So at 1pm today I'm going for a new assessment. For autism. I'm not happy about it at all, if anyone can tell me what it is about me that suggests autism then please do enlighten me, because I haven't got the foggiest! But my therapist has decided it needs investigating. He hasn't given me a reason for why he thinks this other than sometimes I find it difficult communicating - but that's just a symptom of a low!
So I'll let you all know how it goes, but a few positive thoughts wouldn't go a miss if you can spare any, I'm feeling pretty rubbish about it. Why do they want to find more things wrong with me??

I have absolutely no idea why they are assessing you for Autism and it does seem extremely out of the blue! Hope all goes well <3 Sending hugs x

How strange. I have an autistic brother and I have no idea why your therapist thinks so, then again there are different types and adults present autism differently
Good luck, I guess?

Thanks guys! Turned out she was looking for for aspergers than autism, which can present quite mildly in women. She was a lovely lady I got on really well with her, had quite a laugh actually!
But anyway she said there's absolutely nothing about me that points towards possible aspergers and it doesn't need investigating further, which I'm really relieved about, kind of felt like I was just having another label shoved at me! The reason I was referred was because of difficulties with communication, but that's a symptom of depression and only happens when I'm depressed!! So she agreed with me that my therapist's a pleb basically although she did it in a very professional way.
So all in all it turned out to be a huge waste of time really, but something I'm quite glad is over! Thanks so much for the support guys

I guess sometimes (unfortunately) you need to be labelled to access some types of support. I guess they were just trying to help. At least it isn't something you will need to worry about in the future now it is all cleared up. It can be rather unsettling when something like that happens - it sounds like you have managed well with the situation take care x
