Did you know that these 4 things can have a really negative impact on anxiety and other mental health disorders? Alcohol and drugs for obvious reasons, caffeine and tobacco because they can bring your heart rate up, mess around with your brain and just generally not make you feel pleasant.
Although a cup of coffee and a cigarette is how many of us like to start our day it's worth trying to avoid these 4 as much as possible. I've already started avoiding alcohol and the only drugs I take are my prescribed ones! Caffeine and tobacco are definitely going to be harder but I'm trying a glass of water first thing in the morning, instead of that coffee and then leaving it for a while before I go in for that morning cigarette. I know the morning one is the worst, because that's when my heart goes a ridiculous speed and I get in a tizz over nothing.
I don't know if I will give up caffeine and tobacco for good, but it's definitely something I want to cut down on; to see what impact it has on my wellbeing. I'm also cutting out alcohol for 3 months (yes, even over Christmas and my birthday). Anyone else going to give it a try with me?

I'm awful for all these things! I love having a glass of wine in the evening and although it usually is just one glass, it does have an impact! I'm trying to lose some weight before christmas and I've cut out alcohol for that reason - 9 days so far!
I find it incredibly difficult to get out of bed in the morning without coffee, as my medication makes me so drowsy in the mornings, but I'd love to try and limit this to just one cup first thing instead of drinking it all day! With you on this!
Over the years I've noticed certain alcohol is worse than others, some can really badly trigger a low for me. Vodka is now a complete and utter no no. Unfortunately red wine also, which is my favourite, so I might occasionally have one glass with a meal, but that's my limit. If I'm going to be socialising and want to drink then it has to be white wine, and, strangely, cocktails! As long as they don't have vodka in. Dietary requirements for alcohol - well I am Irish.

I seem to have an issue with alcohol if I drink certain things too, especially vodka. I seem to associate with my Mum when I drink the things that she did, so vodka can make me really nasty and spiteful. Red wine makes me sob my heart out and beer can go one of two ways (angry or happy). The only thing I can seem to drink without flipping out is rum, but then I don't know anyone in my life that ever drunk rum so perhaps that's why!
As for the coffee - I've already failed today. I'm going to try again tomorrow though as I'm already panicky and jittery before lunchtime. Plus coffee makes me less hungry, which the prozac is doing too, meaning I don't seem to ever eat!
Oh and well done on the 9 days alcohol free!
