Are people on medication for bpd? Or anxious and avoidance pd? I think I need to be back on meds :/ Also anyone have any experience of asking for a re-assessment? I don't think my diagnosis explains my symptoms and those around agree with me.

I was on meds for bpd however I decided to come off them about 8 months ago against doctors advice. I am doing well but when things go bad, they go REALLY bad. Sometimes I wish I was still on meds but none really sseemed to work.
Ask for a review of meds and explain your situation. Maybe start on a low dose if its something you want to go back onto.
Personally I prefere psychological intervention to medication

Kim - I'm glad you're doing well, but please bear in mind that it's dangerous and very, very strongly advised against to come off your medication without speaking to your doctor first. To go from taking your meds to nothing can have a lot of side effects and complications, and it's a time where you need support. I'd advise anyone to do the same - I DID speak to my doctor first. And he knew I came off it when I decided to. I kept him well informed!

Thank you both. So should I speak to my gp or ask my care co-ordinator at the mental health services? Cus im not sure. My gp didn't stop my meds. When I had a psychiatric admission the doctor there stopped them for reasons unknown. Id like to hope observational purposes, but they didn't make any observations, my care co-ordinator told me.
I would rather psychological intervention too Kim, but im not allowed any therapy because im not stable enough not to kill myself hurt myself. And I can't seem to stabilize myself.

Could you enquire about why the doctor stopped your medication? As I think this would be helpful for you in deciding whether go back to medication.
You say * this on another thread. Is this opinion with what you mention above based on experience of having had therapy and professional advice? Or more just in your opinion you wouldn't be able to cope? As you could look into combining both medication and psychological interventions or talking therapy.
On a side note we completed presentation on Gestalt therapy (empty chair technique) within psychological interventions and it nearly cost us our postgraduate degree. Heh.. Anyway, psychological interventions could be good IF you can find a therapist trained in them.
*"I can't have therapy either because I can't cope."

I can't have therapy, your correct, but if I was stable I could, but I can't stabilise myself :/ I've been trying for 6 months. The mental health services won't refer me because they've decided im not ready. I would intend it to be so I could cope day to day enough to get to a place I can have therapy. :/ The doctor that took me off it never even spoke to me. But I expect it was because of suicide attempts, I was on sertraline and that's a possible aide affect. Im going to speak to my new care co-ordinator today for the first time and try and mention it.
