Firstly a big thank you to Manisha and Laura for handling the hangout on Monday! Here are Manisha's notes from the hangout:
For those of you who weren't at yesterdays hangout: (p.s. this is a monster post because I haven't really done this before so yeah sorry it's so long people)
1) We really just asked where people wanted future hangouts and from that responses were (in order of popularity): Manchester, Bristol, Newcastle and Scotland. Toni was wondering if anyone would like her to donate a ticket and pay for them to go. Also what would people like to see at the coming meet up? A raffle was an idea but as Rebecca said everyone would have to chip in with sth no matter how small.
2) We were also looking for a few more ideas for advertising volunteering opportunities. The majority vote was for twitter and fb and possibly a live feed on the new site or a forum post. If you have any views on this then please feel free to give Bex your ideas.
3) A different way of doing hangouts: The idea was Zello, a walkie talkie system available for download on tablet, phone, pc and laptop. It operates a push-to-talk system so you don't have to talk if you don't want to only problem highlighted was no way of typing chat so if anyone has any other ideas then yeah go ahead
4) Anything you particularly want to see on the new MiLO website? Things to see would be a twitter feed, links to other social stuff like twitter obvs and sections on each type of disorder and good sites to look at for those disorders
5) Please please all really push Rebecca and Ben's bungee jump for MiLO as it is a brilliant cause which we all know more than anyone else, and they are doing an incredibly brave thing! They made an excellent video so please, please spread it around! www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuWoF24s2Po
6)More fundraising ideas please: Yesterday we thought of a coffee morning similar to Macmillan's.
7) Buzz feeds and myth busters:
If anyone wants to add their myth (or help with fact finding) then let Bex know on the post in the ideas section of the forum.
8 ) Video editing class in the next few weeks to get our youtube activity up!: email bex@mindslikeours.co.uk with the subject "Video editing" to be involved in this class.
9) The book/film clubs have really taken off so please keep getting involved. Laura and Bex will be setting up a specific book club soon. Also if you have any more ideas like this to bring us together then please tell us. One idea from Rebecca yesterday was a recipe club, operated sth like a cookbook. Toni also suggested games.
10) An excellent idea from Sophie Kirwan to get self-help books to people who need them:This would operate as a library system which everyone loved yesterday. So people would donate their books then people can take them out then return them and they would just be circulated as and when people want them. Also the idea of lending Kindle books was a brilliant one too from Toni
