Hey everyone,
So I've been thinking about ways to fundraise for the site and wondered whether anyone had any ideas? Currently I'm paying for it all myself, but I'm worried that it's going to become quite expensive. I don't want us to fall down because we can't afford to keep the website going or anything. There's also things like web design to pay for (so we can get a pretty website) and marketing to encourage more people to join.
Has anyone got any ideas of what we could do to fundraise for Minds Like Ours? It could be an event, a way of donating online, or something else entirely? We don't need a LOT of money, like some of the big charities, but we will need a little bit to pay for the website and all that jazz.
Let me know your thoughts!
Bex x

We could get a partnership with someone, on YouTube or maybe a charity. Maybe donations on the forum for cool looking titles and maybe some other perks as long as you can pay by mobile, credit card, Paypal and more so if you're young and don't have a credit card you still have the mobile option or if you're older and have a credit card then you can pay with that.

It might be worth setting up a 'donate' button on the website as well. It might be worth trying to see if we could get a word in on the BBC in the morning, like on Daybreak or something (I preferred GMTV, I have to say).

A donate button would be good (as Rebecca said) How about using Google Wallet? I do and it is pretty seamless. Also why don't you register as a charity? Maybe a social enterprise? Maybe get a Google Adsense account??? Bex I reckon you should go down the charity route. The group is very unique and I'm sure money could be raised Why not get a voice in as many areas/towns/cities as possible?

I'd be happy to be a voice for my local area and, if their are enough of enough involved we should be able to cover a lot of the country!

If we have any crafty types they could sell something and donate the profits? I've done some fundraising in the past by selling cakes and stuff, I'm not really a crafty type though.
Can you sponsor people for doing something for non-charities? Just an idea.

I've been looking into this and you can't register as a charity until you're income is over £5,000 a year. But how are we supposed to make a charitable income without being registered?! I've put money from my business into it, but I can't put £5,000 in a year (if I could, I'd have bought a house by now)! Perhaps we need to tweet some legal people and ask for their advice?
All of the ideas above are brilliant! Now we just need to work out the red tape of it all.

I'm not sure how it works, but what about contacting other charities that fund projects and give grants? I know Time To Change does it! I'm not sure when applications close but I know they do it periodically.
And isn't their one like the Princes Trust or something? I could be wrong!

Only just seen this! These are both great ideas but we need a proper board and financial advisor, which is going to take some time to get together. It's definitely an idea for the future though. Meanwhile, if anyone fancies doing something crazy on video then there's this: moolta.com/

I will have a think, but selling web space for advertising is an idea (mumsnet charges £££s for space on their site). The more unique views you get the better!
I have been looking into sponsorship and investors too so will keep my ear to the ground.

Time to change is superb and I am in the midst of working with an NHS person in getting a grant.

I can ask my friend who's set up a charity for her disabled daughter who needs a sensory room, would you like me to ask her how to go about it? x
