So, I've been taking anti depressants for around 2 and a half years, with a brief break which didn't end as I'd hoped.
At the time I refused to go to a full phsyc assessment, and my GP didn't think I'd cope with that anyway. I've been given my nearest crisis team's number and was told to go to the nearest hospital if I needed to talk to someone (it was a mental health hosp, but closed now). I've always refused all therapy and counselling etc. I've only ever seen my GP about my depression, but am still on meds...
Is it just me who's never been to see any other professional other than a GP during their struggles with MH?

No, me as well I've never seen a psychologist or anything of the sort. I've been on anti-depressants like you and seen my GP, that's it. I sometimes wonder if that's a mistake and if I should see someone. But then I think of the money it'll cost, and I never do Do you feel completely satisfied with your treatment, I mean, is it working for you?

Glad it's not just me! I haven't even seen my GP for well over 6 months and don't have to anymore about it! It's working for me. Since meds have kicked in, I haven't had any bad periods at all... but even if I did, my parents are very supportive, so I know I'd be ok. What about you?? Is it ok for you? And PLEASE DON'T EVER THINK LIKE THAT...don't think of the money it'll cost, because YOU'RE WORTH IT!!! If you need that help, go do it.. you're worth it

Well the stupid nhs waiting lists don't help, both of you really should've been offered therapy! Honestly not wanting therpy because of the cost - I used to be like that but it is SO WORTH IT! I see a private therapist now and its the best therapy experience I've had. It all depends on your relationship and finding the right person for you. The money is worth it for your happiness right? What could be a better deal? I think the fact that its private helps because I know it won't be cancelled without notice and I put more work in because I'm paying. So if you could afford it I would honestly give it a go. Look into who might be the best fit for you though -their experience and qualifications x
