Everyone reading this might be thinking why the hell are you even mentioning this subject? Well why not? It's a fairly natural situation, I'm pretty sure it's not meant to be an untalked about subject..if you haven't guessed already, I'm talking periods! I'm basically just curious if any of you girls find your mental health is effected around the time of your period? Hope nobody actually thinks I'm weird for writing this (oh, hello anxiety in my mind speaking) xx

I do not think you're weird at all! It's actually a really interesting thing.
I definitely find it affects me. In terms of my emetophobia, it makes my mind work freakin' overtime. Every twinge makes me think the worst.
Plus, I've actually had issues I've had to go to hospital for because of my periods which has been linked to stress. x

What a relief, thanks Kim! Yes, see that is defiantly something I can understand..cos that is kind of the nasty feeling I always find appears :/ & sometimes it's so hard to ignore too. Oh my, really? :/ I hope they helped you out xx

Oh god yeah! It's pretty much impossible to ignore! You're certainly not alone hun. x
And yes, had to go once as their initial guess was I was miscarrying. Cue a heck load more anxiety. I got told the next day I had dysfunctional uterine bleeding. Can be caused by loads of things. Nothing I can do other than live with it! It doesn't affect me on a day to day basis, just every so often so I'm lucky in some ways.
I hope you're alright? xx

I found this month that my mood was definitely worse, if affects my sleep (I oversleep more so than normal) but it throws me off for the rest of the month so now I will be over sleeping. I found being on the pill at least helps me know when to expect the situation/worse moods. I find my lower end of bipolar coinciding makes it worse still and often when I become more prone to act on thoughts
so no not a stupid question but is an area I don't think that MH professionals always think about. I look forward to having children then bring on the menopause (sounds drastic but its hard enough dealing with the changeable sitations of MH as it is and want it to be predicatble. even if **** at least you would know what to expect. Not three weeks of random then 1 of even worse)

Which is always a good thing to know ay all us girls are in it together! Sisters are doing it for themselves & all that hehe.. Ooh my goodness, without a doubt! I bet you was almost going through the roof! Well at least they found an answer & it doesn't affect day to day life Yeah, I'm alright thank you I just always feel really sick & get frustrated like "URGH, I'm fed up of feeling so sick all the time" when in actual fact the whole week before anxiety sickness levels could of been pretty low weird I guess hehe, just like me xx

I hear you Aimee the pill will defiantly help you to understand a little more about when it's going to happen.. No your right they don't..but nobody in general does..but really it's a normal natural thing isn't it :/ more common than a flipping cold! haha xx

Most definitely - I am horrifically bad-tempered in the week leading up to it & get very weepy as well. I get worked up over things more easily, become very impatient and irritable. I hate it - more than the period pain in fact and that's saying something!

I definitely find my periods affect my disorder. Firstly with having had an eating disorder they're irregular (cue lots of unnecessary panics that I may be pregnant)and I tend to feel really really sick for the first few days, which stops me eating. Then just the pain and ickiness of it all makes me more depressive too. Not fun!

I have PCOS too, so it's hard to monitor this as mine aren't regular. Sometimes I don't notice anything, but sometimes I get it quite bad. I wonder what on earth is wrong then I suddenly realise. The other day for example, I almost burst into tears at work for pretty much no real reason. I was really exhausted, but I always am at work 'cause I start really early - yet that doesn't always happen. Then I realised it must be PMT. But seriously wth is that about?!

Oh definitely. My symptoms get so much worse like a week before I'm due! I'll literally cry over nothing, snap at everyone, general PMT x 100!
