Hi guys, Just in case you're interested, I thought I'd share my new blog with you. It's not just about mental health (I intend it to be a blog about a bit of everything) but it'll definitely have lots of mentions of mental health awareness, Borderline Personality Disorder and recovery. Feel free to follow here. Thanks.

Your blog makes for very interesting reading, even more so when I see you live in the same city as myself. I am interested in BPD as it is another possibility of my awaited diagnosis. Dr seems to think its a mood or personality disorder I have, and I seem to fit into both categories as far as I can see. So it's a little confusing for me. I have found appointments take so long to come through and I still have 2 weeks to go before I see the adult support services I have been referred to ( been to see couple of people at hellesdon and been referred here) I am not really sure of this whole process but I go out of my mind with worry that no one will listen or get my diagnosis right. I know something is wrong but will they? What were and are your experiences of seeking help?

I'm glad you're finding it interesting. nanasarah - I've been very used to the mental health system so I was into it before I even had any expectations. They've always been a bit low... waiting times, long gaps between support as even I was unsure what was going on in my head. When I was diagnosed (or it was suggested for the first time), I lived in Leeds. I had a fantastic counsellor and my overall experience was brilliant. The only downside was how unavailable he was - he could do fortnightly as the most frequent appointments. At the time, I would have liked it to be more frequent. When I first moved to Norwich, I became a patient at Timber Hill, which I've found to be great. I got referred to see a mental health nurse at Hellesdon which was the start of me getting really, really good and tailored help, really. They immediately recommended DBT, which led to me getting so much better. The mental health services in Norwich really are good (in my experience anyway) and I especially recommend Timber Hill for a GP surgery. If you have any other questions about mental health services in Norwich, or you just want a chat, please feel free to message me anytime.

How bizarre. Been thinking for a while about going changing to timber hill. My dr doesn't know much about mental health, I feel I know more and it's so frustrating. There have been times when I feel I should be in some kind of medication or treatment. I have now been referred to adult support services on st Stephens road. Do you have any experience with them?

I really know that feeling - when I lived in Lincolnshire (where I'm originally from), I often felt quite frustrated as the doctors didn't really seem to know much about mental health, and thought just working, or being out and about more, would fix things. Don't get me wrong, both of these things help loads, but you need the support first!
I haven't had any experience with adult support services. I definitely recommend Timber Hill though - there are at least two doctors that have a lot of experience with mental health. I usually see Dr Cheeseborough, and he has helped so much. He was the first doctor to really give me a proper referral and to get the support *I* really needed - not just the bog standard 'oh have some NHS counselling'. I'm sure that works for a lot of people and it did help me at one stage, but I DBT was what personally worked for me.

I have seen this post and thought I would post up my link. I haven't posted in a while but hoping to carry on. It's quite general, but might be of interest x x thepursuitofpresence.wordpress.com
