Hi everyone,
Sorry it's a little bit late, it's been such a busy few days talking to legal people about our NPO application. We're so very nearly there!! I am just sorting out the final bits of paperwork for the trustees to read through and then we'll be there. How exciting is that?!
Anyway, here's the update from our wonderful (and very short) Hangout on the 12th.
Fundraising
As I have just mentioned, we are soon to become an NPO (non-profit organisation) which means that we can start fundraising for all the different things we need like website stuff, marketing and our meet ups. It also means we would be able to pay for certain things that our members need to help us market/spread the word such as travel. We came up with a few fundraising ideas ourselves, but we thought we'd open it up to everyone on here too. What do you think would be a great way for us to fundraise? Here are our ideas:
Diagnosis Video Diaries
Our next vlogs are about diagnosis, which you can read about here:
mindslikeours.boards.net/thread/393/diagnosis-videos
So far I only have 2 volunteers who want to go public and one private video. I'd really like it if we had at least a whole weeks worth of videos, so the more the merrier please!
World Mental Health Day
As Steven so kindly reminded us here it is WMHD on the 10th of October. That means we need to already be thinking of things that we can do for this, including any opportunities to go viral/spread the word/tell people that we're here for support and all that jazz. As it's such a BIG thing we need a really BIG idea. Something that is going to be interactive but also easy for us to pull off without a massive bank balance. We've had a few ideas such as painting our faces and tweeting about it, but wondered what you guys thought? Let us know if you've got any big ideas and we'll try to get the ball rolling ASAP.
Blogs and Vlogs
We've fallen a little bit behind on blogs and vlogs recently because of 1. Technical problems and 2. My fault entirely. If you have sent me a blog or vlog that hasn't yet been published then please do let me know.
On the other side of blogs and vlogs - we're having to request that people who want theirs published on MiLO keep it for our channel or our blog. We get lots of requests from people on Twitter and via e-mail asking for us to share their blogs and videos, but we simply don't have the capacity to do that. This includes blogs/vlogs from our members, as well as people who are not a member of MiLO. If you want it to be tied in with us then send it over. If you upload it onto your own channel or blog then we can't do anything with it I'm afraid. You are more than welcome to post about it in the links page and on the Facebook group though!
I think that is all. We'll be celebrating our ONE MONTH birthday on Friday (yaaaay) which is also hopefully when our NPO status will be live. Let's see lots of chattering on the forums and on Twitter, celebrating how far we've come.
Thanks so much everyone, as always you're the best!

- Cake baking competitions
- Cake eating competitions (my favourite idea)
- Auction off stuff we no longer need on Facebook (a big MiLO auction)
- Cake bakes/jumble sales
- Raffles
- Dares moolta.com/
- Sponsored stuff including a sponsored Google Hangout where we have to talk for as long as physically possible....
- I think that was it. I have a scrawly note saying "what happens next..." but can't remember what that was about. I think that was an idea from Toni, so please let me know what it was!!
