Hi guys, I'm not really sure where to post this. A letter came through my door this morning saying is been referred to the primary mental health team for an assessment. I didn't even know I was being referred at this point, but I'm not complaining! My appointment is Wednesday, but I really don't know what to expect
Anyone had any experiences? This is my first referral despite being on anti-depressants and diagnosed with depression for 3 years
Will be great to hear from you.
Thanks

I think it's always good to cast your net as far as possible when looking for a support team. What will probably happen is you'll talk through your history of mental health and be asked questions about your lifestyle. The first appointment is generally just to get a picture of the problems you are facing and what kind of support that can be offered to you. It can be scary but I hope it means you can get access to any help you need.

I was with them for 6 months. For me they talked to me and we talked about my struggles and they assessed me. However Im not sure exactly how they work completely as I was admitted to hospital and so my case was quite different, and I ended up with a long term care co-ordinator. But I found it helpful, and I know others have too.

Thank you both for getting back to me. I hope so too Helen, my mind is open to anything so we'll see Thanks Ellie. I'm really glad you found it helpful, I hope it'll be the same for me. I guess I'll never know if I don't go though! and thank you both for the support in replying. Sounds like nothing too much to get too anxious about (I say that to convince myself haha) Hope you're both alright.
