any tips from people who have planned wedding/gotten married themselves?

I really have nothing to say about this as I have never been anywhere near married! But I really hope you can manage the stress and get some enjoyment out of the process.

The only experience I have of this kind of thing was when my friend's mum got married a few years ago. I remember she designated two or three people (her best friend and her mum and I think her sister) who helped her with all the planning she did. So I would suggest putting together a small "team" of people who you trust and who understand the worries you're having, who can be with you or talk to you when you need them to.

BethH I have my team in terms of bridesmaid. both of my current housemates will be bridesmaid and they are allowed to be "Voice of reason" so i can talk to them and get help.

also my dad is being a jerk. so it makes more sense me getting married in Preston as we have a supportive lovely church family but dad is guilt tripping me over this by saying "in the ideal world you'de be getting married in Glasgow (where I am originally from)". I don't have any church family in Glasgow and they wouldn't know both Tom and I which is what I desire from whoever does the ceremony which is what I have in Preston.
