Hi everyone! My name is Tilly. I'm currently at home having been sent away from school for almost a month now having been deemed too unsafe at school which is a shame but I'm dealing. I will be seeing a psychiatrist soon for diagnosis and different treatment to what camhs have already offered. I hope to get my life back on track as soon as possible as having to repete my first year of sixthform would be very sad. A bit about me: I am a musician, I have been playing for 12 years now and study at chethams school of music. I play with the national youth orchestra and music is my life so I cant wait to get back to it all! I also really like sports :-)
Can't wait to get to know you all,
Little Tilly

Welcome to MiLO Tilly. Sorry to hear about your school experience and I hope that you will get a formal diagnosis soon. Music is an awesome thing to be part of (I can't play an instrument to save my life, lol). I hope that you will find MiLO useful and I hope that we can support you when you need it.

Wow, that's awesome! What do you play? I used to play the cello but I was never that good. I love music though.
I'm sorry you're experiencing mental illness. It's good that you are going to be assessed. Once your illness is better understood you should be able to work on recovery.
I'm looking forward to hearing more from you!

Hi Guys nice to meet you all! I play the viola (big violin) and the harp good to see some singing talent out there I can't really sing but instruments is more my forte! I'm really hoping to go back to my school soon as I worked hard to get my scholarship there (its a specialist music school) and its a boarding school so I really miss all my friends! Will let you all know how things progress sadly It will be a few weeks before I can see a psychiatrist which could really mess up my a levels. I have one question does anyone else feel like they are in trouble sometimes? There's a certain slightly patronising manor in which I am being treated as if im a bomb about to explode and i'm on the naughty step or something. I just don't understand their way of dealing with me. Thanks Little Tilly

Well done for joining this forum Tilly. I hope you receive what you are looking when you joined the forum. I must admit I admire your musical talent. When did you start playing the viola and the harp?
Not sure if this will give you any comfort in knowing you aren't alone, but I am in the process of seeing a psychiatrist soon, as well.

I think a lot of people are scared of people with mental illnesses unless they have experience with it. I know the teachers at my school were scared by them. They felt that they couldn't predict what I was going to do next and that they didn't know how they were supposed to look out for me. But that isn't your fault and you shouldn't feel bad about it.
Unfortunately getting a diagnosis and getting better take time. It is unfortunate if it messes up your A-levels this year but if so you need to concentrate on getting back next year. I've taken longer getting through university because of mental health problems. I'm getting there eventually though and it doesn't matter that I've gone at a slower pace.
The harp! That is cool. And the viola is a massively underrated instrument.

Hi Tilly, hope you're liking the forum so far! Music is a great thing to enjoy as it can be a brilliant coping mechanism when you're not feeling your best, especially if you play instruments that you really like. I play flute and clarinet myself (and recorder, if that counts), although I've always been a little envious of people who can play string instruments, as I used to play the violin and I was pretty terrible at it!
