I've been doing some research on this. Beta blockers didn't do anything for me and my GP is reluctant to prescribe short term meds. The thing is I need something to help me daily with this.
I wondered (and I know that each person is different etc) but what have people been prescribed and their thoughts. I find that hearing real personal experiences often helps me in judgments on what to take.
I have an idea of 3 that I would be happy to try but wondered what other people thought of their meds/experiences

I've been on fluoextine, sertraline, diazepam and now quetiapine and all have helped my anxiety to different levels but some of them are because of other things. Fluoextine and sertraline helped my anxiety but not my other symptoms. Diazepam helped but is only very very short term because you build up a tolerance. Quetiapine is actually an anti-psychotic but does calm my anxiety as well as my other extremes BPD moods. Don't know if that'll help at all!

Hi Aimee, how long is short-term if you don't mind me asking? Beta-blockers can be good for physical symptoms but will not stop the thoughts associated with anxiety.
Longer term meds may not be the answer if you're looking for something to only take for immediate relief. This might not be for you, but have you considered Rescue Remedy? x

I've been on sertraline, citralipram and quetiapine. Sertraline increased my anxiety. Citralipram didn't do anything. And quetiapine stopped my anxiety but made me suicidal so honestly nothing's really worked for me yet.

Citalopram very much helped my anxiety but it didn't mix nicely with my IBS at all so I had to change my meds.

Sorry for the late reply guys.
All those meds I've been on before so the ones I'm looking at May be an unknown thing for me to try.
Short term was 2 months of taking beta blockers
Will update later how hospital went but things are looking up
