Hello!
I'm Bethany (I prefer to be called Beth though haha), I'm 18 and from North Wales. I've suffered from various anxiety disorders for 7 years now which began after having my first epileptic seizure leaving me terrified of leaving my bedroom and having numerous panic attacks everyday. Having epilepsy meant I couldn't be prescribed any medication for anxiety, according to my doctor, therefore it was down to counselling. After months of being on a waiting list and seeing a counsellor for a few years I felt I'd made no progress at all, if anything my anxiety had gotten worse. Last year, I sought private counselling (CBT) and things have been much better since. Although it's a lot of work and I'm definitely not 'cured', I'm 10 times better then I was this time last year. I just want anyone suffering from a mental health disorder to realise they're not alone, although they may feel they are, and things do get better!
I'd also like to express how much music has helped me through this. Reading through some other people's posts it seems like it's helped many others too! I'm a musician ( www.youtube.com/BWJx ) and would like to emphasise how much of an impact anxiety has had on my music and how great it is to have an outlet such as music, I would definitely recommend it to anyone suffering from a mental health disorder!
Anyway, I've rambled on for far too long!
have a great night, Beth xx
