So, I've been told I have psychosis by one mh professional but another has said the things I see and hear (who have personalities and lives etc) are just part of my BPD. I can't find anywhere where it says BPD has psychosis involved, and I don't feel like I understand any of it anymore. Anyone else get psychosis along with their bpd? (I also have anorexia and anxious avoidance personality disorder and im fairly sure it's not them).

I'm really struggling to find any pages on this but I'm sure psychosis is a symptom of BPD, but not everyone with BPD suffers it. I remember reading that psychosis in borderline people tends to be related to stress.
I'll keep looking. The book Girl, Interrupted mentions the relationship between borderline and psychosis. It's worth a read, although trigger warning for suicide attempts. The movie doesn't really mention it.
Personally, I have only ever hallucinated a couple times, years ago, and I was sleep-deprived. I do tend to hear intrusive voices under stress but they're always my own, so I don't think that really counts.

Ok, thanks. I've heard about pseudo hallucinations where you know they aren't real associated with BPD but these aren't them and I don't know if it's just when I'm stressed. It's sometimes when I'm fine or even very up. It's so difficult

Sorry this was posted ages ago but weirdly this came up where I work today and yes, psychosis IS a part of BPD, but can also be secular.
Not sure if this is a great example but think of it like when you have a cold, you say "I have a cold" but then part of that cold is sinus pain. It's part of the cold but it also might need to be treated differently. Not sure if that makes any sense?! Haha! xx

Yeah that makes sense! I saw a consultant psychiatrist yesterday, he thinks it could be related but seperate. I'll be starting anti-psychotic most likely next week.
