Hi guys! In my early teens I was diagnosed with social & general anxiety disorders alongside mild OCD, but it wasn't until two years ago (when I was 18) that I was diagnosed with PTSD. This clarified a lot and explained most of the anxiety I'd been suffering from (alongside dissociation and disturbed sleep). The NHS were pretty much useless (more on that another day!), but I ended up getting funding from my university to access EMDR therapy. My university have been superb, and I couldn't have imagined that they'd help me with so much. In 2012 I started my website, Therapy Through Tolstoy, on which I write about how fiction and the act of reading have helped my mental health. I've got in touch with so many lovely people through it, many of whom have been brave enough to share their stories of mental health with me too. I'd really like to take a more active stance in reducing mental health stigma, and I'm so excited about getting involved with the MiLO community Raising awareness and acceptance of mental health means so much to me, and I'm starting to feel more courageous about speaking out. Lucy

Thanks, Lucy and Kimberley! I really love how supportive everyone seems here! I think the focus on community will make the Minds Like Ours project so successful. The link is www.therapythroughtolstoy.com/ Just quickly, is the ambassador application process open currently? I'll also give some thought about other things I can help you out with... I have experience with writing, editing, social media, marketing, SEO etc so perhaps a task will come up in the future! I can also promote MiLO on my blog - I know a lot of people who will find it great too.

Fab, thank you. I'll have a look now I really don't know if they're open atm.. I don't think so, but it's worth asking Bex or Mia? I think there's an email address for people to send their ideas to if you want me to find it for you? So exciting that you want to take an active role within MiLO x

Welcome Lucy! I don't believe that ambassador applications are currently open but they will be again as MLO grows. Glad to have you on board. Take a look at our volunteering opportunities forum or message one of us MLOfficers.

Hi Lucy! I can see you've already received the great big MiLO welcome, but just thought I'd say hello and it's good to have you aboard! The ambassador applications are not open at present, but we always put an announcement out quickly when it's time to add to the team, so keep an eye on the boards and I'm sure it will be in the not too distant future. I love that you're so open to getting involved where you can, our volunteers are so important to us and I am so admirable of each and every one! Feel free to send us the link to your blog and we'd be happy to link it from our website. If you want to get involved with blog editing then drop us an email to blogs@mindslikeours.co.uk and I'm sure there's lots you can get involved with.... we're always in need of more editors to keep the story sharing ticking over! We're also doing lots of work on marketing and SEO at present, it's being discussed as to what roles may be available for volunteers in this area, so we'll definitely keep you in mind for this! Other than that welcome to the family! I'm sure your positivity is going to be incredibly welcomed

Thanks! Also, hi Laura and Mia! I'll be sure to keep an eye on the boards - it seems like there's lot to get involved with and lots of people to chat to for the meantime anyway I'll definitely send an email about the blog editing though! Thank you all for such a friendly welcome!

Hello Lucy,
I love TED Talks they are great. So I am pleased to see you have mentioned them in your blog. J.K. Rowling, Sir Ken Robinson and JD Schramm are three of my favourites on TED.
Look at me rambling on about TED. I'll be quiet about that now.
Anyway, welcome to MLO Lucy, I hope you settle into this community quickly and without any issues.
PS. I love reading as well, especially Harry Potter fanfiction and science fiction.

Thanks so much, MissBlack! I love TED Talks, as you can probably tell! J.K. Rowling's talk is also a favourite of mine, but I'll be sure to check out the others you've mentioned in case I haven't watched them already.
And you've convinced me that I really should re-read the Harry Potter series (again).
Thanks for the welcome wishes - I look forward to being party of the community here!

Hi Lucy and welcome to our family! It's so nice to hear that you've had so much support from your university. That's amazing. Sorry to hear the NHS weren't so helpful though. I'm Keeley and I am currently going through an assessment for BPD, but do have emetophobia and others along with. Take care and see you around the forum X

Thanks so much guys!
Keeley, I know assessments can be quite difficult to get through, so I hope it's not too stressful for you. Look forward to seeing you more on the forum!
Lucy x
