Hello everyone, my name is Maggie and this is my first time on the forum. I am 22, a psychology graduate, student children's nurse, type 1 diabetic, and I have had depression for 5 years. I am currently struggling through a difficult bout of depression that hasn't really let up since June. I'm taking a year out from my nursing course to concentrate on my health and getting both my diabetes and depression under some kind of control - the main gist being if I can't care for myself I'm not fit to be taking care of other people! I've recently come off venlafaxine which I was on for 3 years, and I am in my first week of taking mirtazapine. I've moved back with my parents for the time being as things were so bad I was putting too much pressure on both myself and my housemate up in London. I'm doing casual work as a barmaid to earn my keep and I am aiming to go back to my studies next September, all being well. I've joined the forum to meet and share with others in a similar situation to me. So that's me in a nutshell, I hope to get to know you all soon! xx

Hi Maggie! Welcome to the family! Hope to see you around a lot more. I think you'll find a lot of people here who decide to take time out to concentrate on recovery - it's a brave thing to do and shows a lot of strength! I'm sure you'll find it the best thing you can possibly do xx
