I don't take any medication currently, I don't want to either because of the side effects. :/

same here, I have heard so many stories good and bad and I chose to not take them in the end, how are you getting on without taking them? my doctor told me it would take longer to get better but I think I am kind of on track considering the situation and reading other people's experiences and where they are in there recovery! I get bad days but that's only to be expected I think.

I don't take medication because I nearly had liver failure and they weren't helping enough to make it worth it, but when my liver is healed the options will be looked at again because I can't work as I am, and I can't have therapy either because I can't cope. But the side affects aren't always that bad, varies person to person.

Thanks for the feedback guys, just wanted to hear about other peoples experiences and how they felt about it all, Ellie, hopefully if you do start them you may be able to cope better with therapy xx

I'm not on medication currently as I didn't want to talk to my GP and I recently moved to Uni and didn't want to be starting medication at a time when I'd have to switch GP. After moving and not coping well with Uni and finding out that the waiting list for CBT is 8 months, I'm going to try to get an appointment with the new GP to try to start on medication. I know there can be a lot of side effects, but it seems like it's worth a go, especially if CBT isn't an option

Hi Gwen, I had to wait ages for CBT too it's a pain having to wait that long but I found it really helpful when I got my sessions I think with the tablets the side effects are different for different people...some people have none at all hopefully that is the case for you

I'm constantly changing my mind about medication, it's such a difficult one to call.
Basically I was put on medication for my agoraphobia/anxiety before and it definitely did help me get out of the house. It also helped with the physical symptoms of my disorders such as shakiness/fast heart/etc. However, I got side effects that weren't great and so I was tried on lots of different ones before I said I wasn't going to take anything anymore.
I had CBT whilst on no medication and that helped a lot, but I would still get the physical symptoms of panic attacks and so on. Eventually the doctor decided to put me back onto some kind of medication as well as the beta blockers to calm my heart down. I'm not getting any serious side effects from these and it is helping me get out of the house, but there's obviously that mental block which needs to be combated too.
I think a mixture of the right therapy and the right medication can be the best option in many cases, but obviously that doesn't work for everyone.
