Hey there,
Wanted to ask our DID members if they had any idea when a switch was about to come, or whether it just happens? I figure, like most disorders, it would be different for everyone, but would be interested to see what it's like for you.
Also, if you can feel a switch coming do you alert the others around you or do people close to you know what is going to happen?

sometimes ....othertimes it has already happened and I only become aware when I notice one of my other selves doing something...for example I can believe I am sitting on the sofa then become aware of someone washing up int the kitchen ...it's only them I realise I am watching one of my other selves at the sink. If I am particularly stressed especially if not at home I feel a switch almost as 'bursting' out and thats when it all gets very shouty and a bit of a blur

Hey Bex! Excellent question followed by excellent responses :3 Switching for me can be very random at the most inconvenient of times ^_^; It's very much stress centered, for example, oftentimes I'll have Eric coconcious wih me when I'm going out in public, social situations gimme anxiety for whatever odd reason. Sadly in my case it's only possible to tell I'm going to switch if I'm in an already triggering situation (unfamiliar social gathering, confrontational situation, ect. So I've tried filling in my friends on my triggers so that if one of the boys do come out, not only is it easier for them to catch on, it avoids any embarrassing situations (the boys are getting less patient when referred to by my name, go figure xD )

This has been really interesting to read. I always thought that perhaps there was some kind of giveaway that made people more aware of their switches, but I guess it can just happen at the most inopportune moment.
It's great that you've filled your friends in with your triggers, that was another thing I was wondering. Do you think that your friends have a good idea of when you're going to switch? I know that for example, with Nick on hangout, we know as soon as you've changed pretty much right away. Is everyone so understanding or do your alters try and hide it?

Can only speak for my own experiences obviously x3 Um, most of my friends can't tell till after a switch has happened, starryari1990 and her brother are so far the only two this side of the pond that are quick. Well, them and my counselor xD Aside that, my boys always tried to act as much like me as they could so noone asked too many questions. Wonder about you guys though, anyone you know who can tell when a switch might happen?
