Hi!
A bit about me - I have had troubles with anxiety and depression throughout my life and I am now gaining a much better understanding of what I am going through. I have had to and still deal with a lot of unfair treatment from others in person because I struggle doing what is perceived "normal". I am naturally very self critical but I am learning to be kind to myself as those I'm around me treat me horribly. I am learning of the help there is out there and how to utilise it to my benefit the best I can. I have been very hesitant of sharing my problems because of both negative reactions and feeling like "there's people who are going through worse".
I have struggled to really explain what I am going through - often worrying that my problems won't be understood. However, I have found where to look online and how there are people with similar troubles and that makes me feel like I belong. I feel like I have people who can understand me a lot better than what I'm used to. I have an opportunity to get involved with something I am passionate about and that's to try and help others who are going through similar and also raise awareness of mental illnesses - as a result breaking down the stigma.
I use Twitter a lot and you can follow me here: @hashim_Viola

Hey Hashim, and welcome to the forum . And what you said is similar to how I perceive things, knowing that your not alone and there are some people who are going through worse. And also just the understand people are different, even though your opinion is different to others does not make it invalid. Just like Gerard said, everyone is very supportive and understanding on here. Myself I use to suffer from depression and currently do get problems with anxiety. - so kinda similar X). I also have Twitter: @nashalicia I will follow you now Hashim ^-^

Hi Hashim - welcome! :-) It's great to hear that you've realised you're not alone with this illness, however hard that may seem to believe at times. Minds Like Ours is a fantastic community, and I'm really happy you felt you could join and benefit from it.
I'm an Ambassador for Depression (and also Emetophobia) so if you ever have any questions, feel free to gimme a shout, but everyone here is lovely and will be happy to help you out. :-)
