Hello, My names Meghan. I'm from Canada. I was presumed to have cynical depression at age 13 and after beeing on a bunch of anti-depressants, and going through many long "episodes" was fully diagnosed with BPD II at age 21. I am 25 1/2 now. Also I have always always had major panic attacks and anxiety...so about 5 months ago I was told I could have an anxiety disorder as well...so I was put on meds to help and sent to see a psychiatrist. I got into see a psych nurse but that was just one visit to be put on a waiting list to see the doc. and it could be up to a year. As i'm deemed not a risk to myself...though the new meds help I'm not always in good "place" and I really need a doctor of the mind who knows what the heck they are talking about.....(i say this as i've been though A LOT of uncaring docs, that don't know what they were saying)
So now i just wait....

Hey Meghan!
Welcome to the forum. We have another international member (woo!)
There's a few people here who have been misdiagnosed, or had problems with doctors not seeming to care. It's getting a bit better but it's still not 100% - Hopefully it's one of the things we can push for, a better medical understanding, when we grow bigger and better.
Anyway, I'll let you work your way around the forum. Let me know if you need any help.
Thanks
Bex x

Hello Meghan! Sorry, I need to ask, is Canada really like all the films with snow everywhere all the time? Sucks that you're not getting what you need as soon as you need it, but hold on in there it's worth the wait! X

Hello Meghan! Sorry, I need to ask, is Canada really like all the films with snow everywhere all the time? Sucks that you're not getting what you need as soon as you need it, but hold on in there it's worth the wait! X LOL!!! Nope, only place with snow all the time is up north...like in our north west territories. We are for the most part like the USA in terms of weather. Only major differance to us from the US is we have some folks that speak french and out in Ontario and further there are a lot of other nationalities. Also that wait might not be worth is sadly. I am in the part of Canada that cares the least about out mental health. Last time i went though the same process (3years ago) and finally got to see the psych doc and she said I was ok and didn't need therpy of any kind and sent me on my way...while all this time i sat home getting worce telling myself I didn't need help...as she said i didn't need it....then finally my fiancee got so worried he made me go back to try for help again...as my anxiety was so bad i locked myself in the apartment one day afraid to go outside.

Oops. I feel stupid now!! Hahaha Ah that's terrible. At least you have someone at home for support for now! They need to wake up and realise MH is just as important as physical needs. Well, you seem very lovely ! Feel free to chat to me anytime about something or nothing X
