Hi I'm kind of new to this whole forumming thing (Yes that is now a verb.) I love the vibe of this one though I'm 18 and just finished 6th form and I've struggled with EDs (mainly/currently anorexia) for 5 years and previously struggled with depression/SH (But that's all sorted and good now wahey). Eating and anxiety are still issues but I'm getting help. I was going to say 'that's it really...bye' but that makes it sound like that's all there is to say about me, and I refuse to be sucked into believing that my entire identity is caught up in this stupid disorder SO - I also love art and music and singing and climbing and rollercoasters and cooking That's meeee xxx

Thank you that's really kind Yeah everyone seems to be so nice on here! Restores my faith in humanity ;-) hehe I'm quite into sort of folksy/acoustic music but my main involvement with music is through church where I lead worship and play keys/sing in the band which is suuuperr fun oh and im also in a gospel choir ;-) (also super fun) I love any kind of cooking and baking really, although I'm not a fan of recipes I'm more of a throw-in-a-bit-of-this-and-that kind of cook (oh and last week my neighbour GAVE us an ice cream machine so I've been inventing a lot of ice-cream flavours recently...personal fav has to be almond and cherry brandy - not even kidding - icey heaven.) But in a couple of weeks I'm moving to the Isle of Man for a year so its all change... (eek scary/exciting/completely freaking out haha)

hahaha I love jahmene douglas, what a cutie Yeah the move is exciting, its a gap year before uni, so at the very least it'll be nice to have a break from exams for a bit! It just seems like the perfect gap year for me. But at the moment it's making my anxiety go through the roof! And in turn everything else MH-related is several times harder. Trying to focus on the positives though......

Hey, welcome to the site, as everyone else has said, I'm sure you'll find lots of support here! You're right to not let illness define you and you have some really cool hobbies! An ice cream machine? So jealous! And it's really cool that you're in a gospel choir, I love that sort of music even though I'm not religious. It's great that you don't let your illness control you either and are still moving away for a gap year. It sounds really exciting, what will you be doing there? xx

Haha thanks - I'm spending the year volunteering as a youth worker in schools and churches across the island, theres loads of other gap year students doing the same as me and we'll all be living in a (massive!) house together. I'm hoping that the fresh start will help kick start my recovery a bit, Ive been so excited by this opportunity since I applied last year but now I'm just worried my MH (and physical) will mean I can't cope and have to come home. I'd be so disappointed if that happened and I'd regret it forever so I feel like its a bit of an 'all or nothing' moment in my life - no pressure or anything haha!
