Hey everyone,
I've had a few people asking how to become an ambassador, so thought I'd create a post to give you a bit more information as to what an ambassador is, what they do and how you can become one.
What is an ambassador and what do they do?
At Minds Like Ours we want to be able to spread the word far and wide, as well as being there to support each other when we all need it most. We aim to have around 5-10 ambassadors for each disorder (when we're bigger), for now around 2-3 would be the maximum. The ambassador is the 'go to' person for that disorder, and would work alongside the other ambassadors to help bring others into the community, come up with ideas about how they could portray their disorder (blogs, vlogs, something else) and also be there for support when needs be.
An ambassador can use any means they have to get others to join in (Twitter is a great one). They will also have access to the ambassador only message board which is where they can share their ideas of how to bring more people into the community, the blogs, vlogs and so on. You'll get ambassador permissions on the board and your very own e-mail address (how exciting!)
It is important for us, and I cannot stress this enough, that each ambassador puts their own health first. You can put as many or as little hours into this in a week, but as soon as you need a break then take one! James and I will be here if you want us to take the load off, as will the other ambassadors. We're all here to support each other and I want to make sure that nothing you do puts a strain on an already difficult disorder.
How to become an ambassador
We are still accepting applications for ambassadors at the moment, but this will be closing soon until we gain more members in the community. There's no lengthy application process or anything like that, you just need to let us know which disorder you want to become an ambassador for and how you would like to get involved. As we're still brand new you've got the lucky 'first come, first served' ambassador applications. When we grow it will become an application form to fill out (yawn). You've already proved you're dedication by joining us when we're just starting out, so of course you should be accepted as an ambassador!
Remember what I said about putting your own health first; you can work on this as little or as much as you like. Imagine how much you can help us grow into something wonderful!
Look forward to seeing lots of new ambassadors soon.
