Hi there, I've been trying for quite some time now to introduce myself, but I'll just go for it, and I'll stop holding myself back.
I'm Steven, I'm 19, I'm from the UK and I suffer/ experience, live with Anxiety, Social Anxiety and Depression. It started originally as Selective Mutism which meant I felt unable to speak, found it difficult in social situations from about 3, not speaking until years 1/2 (5/6) but did speak at home, but not fully. It gradually then developed and is connected with social anxiety, which continued throughout school and is still with me now. It developed into panic attacks and anxiety in year 7/8 in secondary school when I was aged around 11/12, and since then has continued to effect my life, and has really gradually made me feel more depressed, and lead to that build up.
I did do ok in high school, qualification wise (certainly not coping wise and just getting through wise) and did go onto college, but into the second year of a 2 year course I quit because it became too much, I did another short course which I didn't finalise and recently returned again, and managed despite quitting to walk away with a level 2 qualification.
I also volunteer with various mental health charities, including YoungMinds, and Time to Change (locally to me) which has provided me with a wide range of opportunities and is something I do enjoy and value.
Me, I'm not good at you know the whole oh my interests, tell me something about yourself, I generally struggle with, despite it generally been in a social setting which I find difficult anyway. So here goes...! I do like listening to music, and also recently have started cycling, which though is new to me, I do enjoy and it makes me feel a little more free, despite it sometimes feeling like I'm dying! Hence my body is not really in the best shape. I also haven't done much but do like photography.
I think I've said too much, but I'm not doing much at the moment, but hope to do more volunteering, and trying different things, really trying to open up my world a little bit and trying to step out of my comfort zone, and trying to find myself a little, so that's a little bit about me, I look forward to getting to know some of you. Thank you!
