Do you know any really helpful books / sites that have helped you learn to live with your disorder?... other than here of course. I thought i'd pitch in, just in case it helped anyone. A friend of mine recently learnt to manage his General Anxiety Disorder and he's doing great - v proud of him. Anyway, for my birthday he bought me a book that he says really helped him along the way. I've just started reading it so my review will have to wait but its called: "FEEL THE FEAR - DO IT ANYWAY" by Susan Jeffers. I'm hoping it's as good as he says and hope it helps you guys as much as it did my friend. here's the linkage in case you have trouble finding it: www.susanjeffers.com/home/detailtemplate.cfm?catID=4199Cheers.. Im a huge reader and can list lots of books Ive read about mental health and what not. (Maybe another day Ill share the story of why my 1st therapy waited a year to give me a diagnosis, its a funny one)
Right now Im reading a book called What Doesn't Kill Us by Stephen Josepg. Awfully cheerful title but its unashamedly positive. Its about how traumatic episodes can lead to post teaumatic growth. Its written by a psychologist who has study people in the wake of traumatic events and how he theorizes what makes some people seemibgly capable of pulling througb them new and improved almost.
Its not really a self help book but I enjoy reading semi professional material on mental health because I have a strong intellect to satisfy and okay maybe a little bit of trust issues in that I constantly challenge my therapists and doctors until they give me proof resources and facts to support what they say. Either way Im enjoying it and its getting me to consider that there might be something changing within me after Mitchs death. Not sure if thats good or bad yet...
