I was wondering if anyone has tried any alternative types of therapy?
By "alternative" I mean things like hypnotherapy, meditation, seeing a psychic, massage and anything else that is considered unconventional?
I ask as I would give anything a try if it helped me to manage my symptoms. I have been looking into music therapy but they only seem to run them for those with SN in my area so trying to find anything different!

I dont know if this counts as alternative but I pldid EMDR Therapy which is when you try to rewire your brains understanding of a traumatic event (in a nutshell) the emdr wasnt especially helpful but the grounding techniques I learned gave me something to work with for most of ny anxiety and other issues

I tried some alternative herbal medications, which worked really well but ended up pretty expensive! I can't remember the exact name of them, I'll root around and find them. They were from Holland & Barrett so always worth having a nose when they do their penny sales.

I've tried meditation, and I've found it's very soothing for the mind. When I feel like a panic attack is coming, before it used to tear me apart, but I've kinda learned to breathe it away if that makes sense? When I feel it I just close my eyes and concentrate on my breathing, it's hard, but it works most times. Also I find if I meditate in the morning and calm my mind before the day; things that I come across that would usually trigger my anxiety don't have as big of an affect. I was really against it in the beginning but after actually trying I really like it.
Hope this helps...? :3

I tried hypnotherapy but it was VERY expensive. It was good in some sense - it didn't do exactly as I thought it would, but I always felt a bit calmer after a session. I think I needed to embrace it more for it to work to its full effect.
It helped me realise that everything happens for a reason, and I became a lot more aware of my surroundings.
Mindfulness is the same for me, it's such a wonderful therapy in my opinion. It's hard to perfect, but once you do, I think the benefits are outstanding. Unfortunately I lost motivation with mine when I came back from filming "Failed by the NHS" but I'm definitely going to try again when I'm in a better headspace.

Meditation & breathing techniques are handy for anxiety problems, in my experience anyhow. I remember reading that anxious people tend to breathe only using the top parts of their lungs, instead of breathing with their diaphragm as well. This was meant to lead to lower oxygen levels in the blood, which in turn makes you more anxious. I guess at least for me, it's true! During meditation and panic attacks, i tend to focus on breathing more than anything, as it's almost a path through time to the point where i'm no longer anxious
