Hey,
So this isn't really a coping method, but it's something that I found helped me and my parents. i used to hate admitting how I felt when I started recovery. Hated talking about it. To this day I don't, but one thing that helped me tell my parents if I was having a slightly better, or worse, etc day is having a number scale of how I felt.
I was dealing with depression and 0 was feeling suicidal. Where as 10 was great. at first it's hard admitting how you feel sometimes, but as I wasn't having therapy or any other help other than medication (I had been offered help, I just wanted to battle through myself). This helped my parents keep an eye on my recovery and allowed me to say how I felt without actually saying so that my parents could act accordingly if I needed them...
hope that helps x

I keep a mood diary to track my depression, mania, anxiety, symptoms, and sleep patterns. Sounds like a lot, but it's all really helpful and important stuff!

I am starting my mood diary this weekend to take to my "first" appointment with me. I think it might help to show them a representation of myself day to day.

Awesome! I have found it really helpful in appointments with my professional support team. It's often so hard to recall how we've been, especially over a few weeks or months, and a mood diary can be really effective at giving a good over view of how you've been. You will also start to notice patterns which can help you to recognise early warning signs. I couldn't recommend the idea of a mood diary highly enough!
Good luck with it!

I kept a small moleskib with me and rated my emotions and thoughts through out the day for about 2 years. It was a great way to keep grounded and also help me put things in order. I also kept little comics in the pages that could make me smile if I was feeling real low.

Glad other people use similar kinda things! I've never had therapy or anything so I don't know of official things.
Glad you've all found something that helps a little!
