A very interesting idea was posted about on another board, the idea was to make a positive box to help when times are tough mindslikeours.boards.net/thread/954/start-project-positive-boxI was wondering what people thought of starting a box for a loved one? would it be a good idea or is a positive box too personal? I was thinking something like this may show the person that I am here for them and might be something which they can find useful.I know that if I told them about the box and told them they should make one they would say they don't have time but perhaps if I at least started it they may give it a go.what do people think? do you have any better ideas? if you like the idea are there any items that you think would help to show I care or anything you think I should avoid putting in?

My mum made me a positive book when I was younger, she started it, and then gave it to me to finish, and often gave me notes shed written or cards to stick in it and it really helped, because I struggle (typical BPD) with really believing anyone cares, and my dad often told me no one does they just pretend because they pity me. But when I felt like that I could look in the book and know my mum cared if no one else did!

That's really sweet of your mum It's such a shame your dad was undermining it.

I agree with Helen, That book sounds fantastic and such a lovely thing for your mam to have done for you and it so awful that your dad would say what he did.

Yeah, btw my parents are divorced, it's not like they did that in the same house. And I have no contact with my dad now anyway, and still encouragement from my mum

I think it would be lovely to decorate the box for them. Not sure about putting things in, I think it depends on how close you are to the person and whether you think they would have the motivation to choose things for their self.
