Well I've just finished all my christmas shopping today, and despite being bombarded with festive adverts since mid October - I think I've finally got into the holiday spirit! So what's everyone looking forward to this christmas? I live a long way from my family, so for me, it's going to be time with my mum and step dad, coseyed away next to the fire sipping mulled wine and catching up on everyone's news - bliss!!
And for those of you that aren't fans of the festive season - What do you do instead that makes winter that little bit brighter? Lets get some positive ideas flowing to keep everybody smiling on these dark evenings!

My favourite thing about Christmas is spending time with my family. They are one of the most important things in my life <3

When it ends... Pahaha!
No honestly, I absolutely love GIVING presents. Although I don't like watching people open them (is that weird?) as I get all embarrassed. I obviously am not a fan of the shopping and Jake does the wrapping, but I get a real buzz out of handing a present over.

Ahh i wish i was good at wrapping presents!! And I don't even have a child I can blame it on.... but it does look like it's been done by a child! I love giving presents as well, Im not a fan of the crowds with christmas shopping, but i do like browsing round the shops and deciding what to get people. It is a buzz when you stumble across something that's perfect! I think i prefer christmas to my birthday, cuz everyone gets a bit of the fun!

Presents, giving and (going to be honest) receiving. I love choosing presents for Aidan, I do like receiving because I very very rarely treat myself and it's nice to know people chose a gift for me

I think my favourite part of Christmas is coming down in the morning and knowing it's a special day.
Mum starts cooking early, Christmas TV goes on and immediate family that live elsewhere turn up for the day, whilst my Granddad usually comes round to visit.
There's just an atmosphere about the day that you may only feel on your birthday, if then, so for me it's something I always remind myself to appreciate in the moment, because despite the months long build up, it passes surprisingly quickly.

Ooo tough one.
I do like classic Christmas songs, especially when they come on the radio. Nothing beats turning up Mariah Carey in the car and belting out "BABY ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMASSSSSSSSS IS YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU".
On a more serious note, it's waking up next to the man I love more than life itself, and watching his face when he opens the presents I've bought him. Plus, he ALWAYS buys nice cards, so I love getting a Christmas card from him too.

I dont really like xmas. Everybody is always so fake and weve lost the true tradition of xmas. People have forgotten what its all about

I have to say Kim I'm not sure I agree. I don't know how religious people are about christmas anymore, and that's entirely up to the individual. I agree that Christmas is now marketed in a very commercial way, however the true spirit of christmas in my opinion is love, generosity and compassion. I believe that's what truly gets celebrated, just look at everyone on this board saying wonderful things about the people they love. I know christmas can be a difficult time for some people, but from my observations it's about being thankful for the positives and making those around you feel special. That's tradition to me anyway

Completely agree with you Mia!
I'm a Christian and things, but Christmas for me is about making those you care about feel loved and catching up with them. A time to be together y'know?

I love watching my sister open her presents, she tears into them with such enthusiasm. :')
