Has anyone have any ideas for WMHD this year?
We need ideas.
Whether it be individuals or as a community. This is a prime day to help break down the stigma of having a mental condition.
Let's brainstorm!

I think something big maybe online, using social media, some kind of campaign, to get Minds Like Ours, out there, but most importantly raising awareness, and helping to break down stigma. Twitter, facebook, youtube, I think it's something we could build and plan together, as we've got a bit of time, and me myself, will be doing an event with my local Time to Change on the day, as I volunteer, and as I said to Bex before, if any promotional stuff like leaflets, posters etc are ready by October, I'll be sure to make sure I'll promote and get them out there.

I've just thought that perhaps we should discuss this at the hangout tonight. I'll add it to the list!

I already posted this on another thread, but I had the idea that we could pick (or write) a song, and then people could send in recordings of themselves playing or singing it and I could edit them together and make a video out of it.

I like the song idea, however I am about as musically talented as an ant. We'd need quite a few musical people to get this working, such as you and Bethany (must be a Beth thing) and Manisha. Anyone else got a musical talent?!

You don't have to be musical, we'd also need people who like writing to help with lyrics.

I've written some potential lyrics which I'll post here or send to Bex tomorrow, but I think that they could be added to or changed if anyone has any ideas.

This is what I came up with, not sure what anyone thinks:
Words mean more Than anyone can say, Tearing someone's world apart Or brightening their day.
And just because You may not easily see Everything your words affect, The consequence is real.
CHORUS The worst things are invisible, Just like many words, And just because they can't be seen, Doesn't mean that they don't hurt. It doesn't have to be this way, We all can change the world - We're all part of the army That are fighting to be heard.
It might be hard, But if you really care, You can take pride and show the world The vision we all share.
It might take time, But nothing happens fast; You have to work to reach your goals And make the good things last.
CHORUS
Take a look At everywhere you go. You'll see that things are different now, Our mission's presence shows.
Once you know The difference you can make, You can pass the message on And show them what it takes.
CHORUS
BRIDGE There is more than eyes can see Hidden in our minds, But the same is true of you, And all of humankind.
One day soon, The world will understand, And everyone will clearly see That we can take a stand.
All we need Is for our message to be heard, In order to show everyone The power of our words.
CHORUS

Hi beth, just had a look at the lyrics for the song, really lovely. I will have a play about on my guitar and see if i can come up with a melody. See what happens. Lucy
