Get your arse to the uk mate! I've heard, not sure if it is true, that if you can't pay for an ambulance then it won't take you? I don't see how the paramedics and ambulance technicians could do that. I know I couldn't do that! I would feel that guilt for the rest of my life! Even my drunk patients I couldn't leave because at that very moment they need help. Every patient of mine is treated with the same respect and transported if needed. Xx

Wonder what quarantine procedures for dogs under ten pounds are xD Not leaving my pup behind that's for sure. Nah, that's not true, if paramedics are called and someone needs to go in, they're required to do that. It's the hospital that bills you later It'll be a process, moving. Meantime, I can do some good, spreading awareness here.

It is a compulsory 4 month quarantine here for all dogs. But surely there must be occasions where patients who really need to go in refuse to be taken in the ambulance because they can't afford the hospital. The ambulance crew can't take people who refuse. People surely die as a result. The other thing is why do US fire departments and ambulance services insist in using massive trucks!? they are too slow and big. sorry for so many questions i'm just trying to understand the US way of life. i'd love to visit the US some time for a while. Xx

I'd be a wreck those 4 months xD Lol it's fine, I love Q&As ^^ Paramedics are to transport patients by any means necessary, affordability is not a factor at that point in time. In the case of life threatening illness/injury, doctors are honor bound to save lives. The issue comes into at with billing, the credit system, and by effect, debt. While having plenty of tourist attractions, we still have the largest international debt, over ten trillion I think? Don't quote me , that may be out national debt level. You've got me on the vehicles, my only guess is all the equipment they have; virtually anything to save a life, shy of performing surgery. I've grown.....detached from my society, the consumer image sickens me :/ I consider myself a child of the world, my home is nowhere and everywhere. It's just been a personal dream to visit Japan, Ireland, and most of Europe ending with the UK, I here when raves get thrown they're unbelievable (or was that Russia?) Either way, definantly paying a visit to Brighton (hope I spelled that right!)

The things is I did some research and we carry more kit than US departments on smaller vehicles. Our fire engines carry everything on them instead of having so many different trucks for different things. Our ambulances carry about 2x more kit in smaller trucks. I think it's a pride thing lol! must have big truck! Xx

Now might be a good time to state my opinions about this are mostly conjecture, sometimes actual research hahaha. But I do agree, there does seem to be an overwhelming stereotype about size-pride. Really it's ineffective. Taken from an insider view, the image we try to show to the world, and the truth, are often seperate. For example, that leaker hiding in Russia, he has that whole country laughing at us because they know the one thing most American refuse to admit. Our president won't do anything, the political ramifications are too great, so much o the world has a different opinion of us as compared to fifty years ago (or so were told anyway)

What gets me is almost every American I meet is vehemently against paying higher taxes to afford public health care. It just seems so selfish to me.

That's actually not the whole issue Laura. Most Americans are against it because only the upper-middle and high class can afford the tax hike, the rest of us are already paycheck to paycheck. We aren't trying to welch on paying our share, only that the rest of the country starts to do the same (NOONE needs to have over a mill a year, just to spend!)

To be quite honest I think that the leaker and that manning bloke have done you a favour by exposing the weaknesses in the security systems. I think the US departments would benefit from smaller trucks.....much less expensive to run and maintain, easier to get through traffic, and a lot faster! We have to be at cat A calls in 8 mins max. Your departments may be able to better meet targets and reach critical patients quickly if they used trucks that didn't take an hour to reach 30 miles an hour! Also turn off the sirens when no-one is around, like at night, and only use them when you need them! They are much more effective like that! Rather than thinking oh no this is an emergency i must ise my sirens! why? no-one can hear them if no-one is around. its illegal to use airens past 11pm and before 6am in the uk inless neccessary. aha this type of conversation is good xx

Touché, it has proved a valid poin for many conspiracy theorists; we need to update our security systems ASAP. Ugh, why in the name of all that is holy cant Americans have more common sense? Do you know cops in Orlando actually flash their lights to turn red lights green? Even when they aren't in pursuit, the corruption you see is appalling. But the , you see that everywhere so guess that's off track. More to the point, I'm just amazed at how uneducated some people seem to be. You seriously can not live in a city, no, a whole county, without knowing gas stations stop selling liquor at midnight. More than that, they seem amazed at our rising prices. In the words of the biggest joke in the world; "My fellow Americans", welcome to the recession!

Hahaha don't talk to us Brits about rising fuel prices! You guys still have it real cheap! yeah I heard about cops doing that. Our shops sell it 24 hours a day except Sunday then wonder why so many people are coming to see me a short while later. I think the government is punishing them just because they don't like the fact that they have been proven wrong about their lack of decent security surrounding that kind if information when in reality they have done the country a huge favour!
