General Etiquette
Discussion and debate are welcome on our forum; however sustained personal attacks are not.
If you have an issue with a particular post or member, in the first instance, please send a message to a Mod or an Admin, or clicking on the Report Post icon on relevant posts so we can investigate.
DO NOT start new threads complaining about members or post in other threads about them. These will be either removed or closed.
Once a moderator has posted in a thread asking for an argument to be stopped, we expect it to be dropped immediately.
Members are expected to respect each other at all times. Aggression, disrespect, baiting, flaming, homophobia , racism , name calling (including troll hunting), belittling, sarcasm, bullying, gossiping, are all unacceptable behaviour You also must not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented or any other material that may violate any applicable laws or go against any of the rules set out by the administrators. If you are found to be in persistent violation of any of the above you will be banned without warning.
Moderating other members is strictly prohibited. Please let official staff deal with the dramas. Do not create your own rules in posts, tell other member's where they can post and where they cannot, or correct anyone on their spelling, grammar or presentation.
Members Only
We have a private Members Only area on our forum. This section is intended to be a private place away from public view (ie family, friends, employers) where you can be fully open and honest, talk about family matters and sensitive life events (Including trigger topics - Trigger Warnings still apply) and banter about things which may be inappropriate reading for our younger members.
Do not discuss ANYTHING from the Member Only areas elsewhere. It is a place for private thoughts, topics and issues which are not to be repeated elsewhere - This includes discussing things in the Facebook group and through private messages.
Please note: Anyone found to be disobeying these rules will have their access to MO revoked indefinitely. If the circumstances are particularly unpleasant you may be banned from the forum permanently.
Disputes
Please keep disputes out of the forums. If you have to have an argument take it to PMs or offsite. This includes disputes involving other forums. Additionally, do not use other forums to discuss disputes from MLO. Members who do this may have their membership deactivated without notice.
Sensitive or “Trigger” Topics
If you think something you wish to discuss is going to affect another member negatively please include "Trigger Warning" in the title.
Trigger topics include post containing:
Abuse (of any type)
Self Harm
Traumatic events
Talk about previous attempts or experiences of suicide
...and anything else you feel may trigger. If in doubt, stick a trigger warning on it!!!!
Suicidal Thoughts & Threats
Self Harm/ Suicide Posts detailing methods used, or threats of SH/SU are absolutely not allowed on any part of the forum. None of our members here have the necessary training to respond to those who are threatening suicide or harm to themselves. These posts can negatively affect the mental health of our members, some of whom are pregnant or already parents.
There are many organisations which are dedicated to events of this nature, including The Samaritans.
Medication and treatment
While discussion of medications, therapy, safe ways of self management and treatment is fine, it is NOT ok to advise others on how to self medicate (lower or raise their own dosage without asking the doctor), encourage others to take drugs which aren’t prescribed to them or illegal drugs or make any other suggestions along these lines.
